Save and Share Favorite Programs

Overview

In the ever-changing world of social services, resource guides can quickly become outdated, even though you want to refer to the programs you like again and again. Use Favorites to create lists of regularly used programs for you and colleagues, or even create reference guides for your community that are easy to access and always up to date!

How it Works

You can save programs as Favorites directly from search. You can access them later or share them with colleagues or those in need of services.

To create a Favorites folder:

  1. Search for a program that you'd like to save.
  2. Once you find a program you like, click the Save button on the program listing.

  3. Choose Create a new folder, or add the program to an existing folder
    • NOTE: Once you create a folder, it will appear in the dropdown menu going forward
  4. Click Save.

EXAMPLE: Austin Housing Programs or Austin Counseling Programs

Alternatively, you can use the multi-select checkboxes to create a Favorite folder and save multiple programs at once:

  1. Search for a program that you'd like to save.
  2. Once you find a program(s) you like, click the checkbox next to the program name.

  3. Click the selected programs at the bottom of the screen. This will open a box with all of the programs that you have selected.

  4. From here, choose Save.

  5. Choose Create a new folder, or add the program to an existing folder
    • NOTE: Once you create a folder, it will appear in the dropdown menu going forward
  6. Click Save

 

Viewing Favorite Folders

To access your Favorite folders:

  1. Login to your account
  2. From your account menu at the top, choose Saved Favorites

  3. Select your Favorite folder.

Managing Favorite Folders

Sorting Favoite Folders

By default Personal Favorite folders are sorted alphabetically by Organization name. 

If you choose to share your Favorite folder via link, programs will be sorted by distance, if a zip code is entered. If there’s no zip code, there’s no specified order. 

If you use a Customer site with Featured Programs, Featured Programs will show at the top of your Favorites lists for both personal and public folders.

If default sorting is not preferred, you can reorder the programs in your favorite folder. To change the order in which programs are sorted:

  1. Click Edit at the top right of the folder
  2. Select Move for the program you want to move

  3. Choose where you want the program to show in the list
  4. Click Update

You can change sort order, or reset to default order at any time.

NOTES

Once you reorder a program, the default sort order will no longer apply. This means that Featured Programs would not show at the top by default, but can be manually re-ordered to appear at the top.

Order changes will be reflected in all places the folder can be viewed.

When a folder is manually sorted, new programs will be added to the bottom of the Favorites Folder.

 

Remove a Program from a Folder

To remove a program from a folder:

  1. Select the Favorite folder that contains the program you want to remove
  2. On the program card for the program that you want to remove, click the unsave button*.

*If you remove a program from a shared folder, it will be removed for everyone who uses the folder. 

 

Edit or Delete Favorite Folder

To edit the name of the folder or to delete the folder:

  1. Select the Favorite folder you want to edit
  2. Click Edit on the top right

  3. To rename the folder, edit the text in the Folder Name and click Save
  4. To delete a folder, select Delete Folder and click OK
    • NOTE: Once a folder is deleted, that action cannot be undone.

Sharing Favorite Folders

There are several ways to share your favorite programs with friends, family, clients, and colleagues including: sending as an email, sharing as a link, and sharing with a group.

 

Send a Favorite Folder as an Email

This is an easy way to share programs with colleagues, clients, patients, friends, and family members. Recipients will receive an email with individual links to each of the programs in your Favorite Folder.

  1. Select your Favorite folder on the left that you want to share
  2. Click the Share button on the right hand side of your screen

  3. Select Send an Email
  4. Enter your name, the email of the person you want to share the folder with, and a message
  5. Choose the language in which you want the list to be sent
    • Note, any message typed in this section will not be translated
  6. Click Send
  7. The email recipient will receive links to each of the programs in your Favorite Folder

 

Share a Favorite Folder With a Link

This is an easy way to share programs with colleagues, clients, patients, friends, and family members. You can share this link on your agency's website, Facebook page, or send as an email or text. These are just a few of the many ways you can share the link. Recipients who click on the link will be able to access all the programs in your Favorite Folder (without being able to edit it). 

  1. Select your Favorite folder on the left that you want to share
  2. Click the Share button on the right hand side of your screen

  4. Select Share as a Link

  5. Click the box for Generate my link, then copy the unique link displayed

  6. Share the link by pasting it on your agency's website, Facebook page, or send as an email or text -- these are just a few ideas.  

Print a Favorite Folder

  1. Select your Favorite folder on the left that you want to share

  3. A printer friendly version of the programs' information will open

  4. From your browser, select Print

 

Collaborative Folders - Share with a Group

Favorite folders can be made into collaborative folders where anyone in within your group can add their favorite programs. This creates curated lists of your staff's favorite programs that are easy to access and share with each other, or even with clients!

  1. Select your Favorite folder on the left that you want to share

  3. Choose Share with a Group and select the group that you'd like to share with.

  4. Click Send

QR Code

Use a QR Code Generator outside of findhelp to create a QR Code for your the public link to your Favorites Folder. This will allow users to easily scan the code with the camera on their mobile device, and be taken directly to your folder.

To do this:

  1. Get a public link to your Favorites Folder by following the steps above
  2. Search for a free QR Code Generator online
  3. Add the public link to your Favorites Folder
  4. Generate your QR Code
