I found a program that’s a good fit. How can I share this with the person?

Overview

We provide several different ways to share program information or directly connect with a program through the platform. These include:

  1. Printing program information.
  2. Sharing program information via email, text or Facebook.
  3. Directly connecting with a program using the Connect button.

The direct connection option allows the person who needs help, the person who made the referral, and the program that received the referral all have the ability to update and track the progress of the referral. This ensures that the person who needs help is getting help.

Use the Quick Links on the right, for step-by-step instructions on each way to share program information with someone.

How to Connect a Person to a Program

We make it easy to directly connect someone to a program through our referral functionality. The Connect button on every Program Card tells you the best way to contact the program and may also be used to make and track the status of the referral. This functionality allows the person who needs help, the person who made the referral, and in many cases, the program that received the referral, to work together to update and track the progress of the referral. This helps ensure that the person who needs help is getting help.

Why Do I See Different Connect Buttons?

The connect button tells you how to best connect with a Program. In some cases the best way to connect with a program is electronically through the site. In other cases the best way to contact a program may be going in person, calling them, or contacting them through their own website. We prioritize listing every social service program while honoring the organization's existing intake and connection methods. This is why we do not require that organizations accept electronic referrals through the site. Regardless of a program’s preferred intake method, the person seeking services and the person who made the connection receives program information, and can view and track the status of the referral to help ensure the person seeking services gets the help they need.

Learn more about connecting with programs that do not accept electronic referrals in the next article:
